The Floral Club Ministry Our purpose is to beautify the Church inside and care for the grounds outside with flowers. Floral arrangements are placed throughout the Church for holidays such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas and Pastor’s Anniversary. Youth And Voices Our purpose is to edify the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through songs, willing to minister to the needs of the people. We should live the life we sing about. To give God praise with everything, our voices and musical instrument is our intent. The Marketing Ministry Our purpose is to advance and promote the “Vision” of the Pastor and the Mt. Olive Church Family. It is with much honor and joy that we go forward to identify and qualify marketing opportunities that will advance the gospel of Jesus Christ. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
Hours of operation: Thursday 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Sunday 9:30am – 9:50am and 1:30pm – 2:00pm The Video Ministry was established in the early 1990’s under the leadership of Pastor William Gillison our purpose is to carry the Gospel throughout the world through the airwaves of television, radio and computer Internet. Currently we present a weekly broadcast entitled “Living by the Word” to the Western New York area with Buffalo, New York as our home base. Soon we will be broadening our television ministry to include areas of California. We strive to bring to our viewers the joy that is found only in Christ Jesus and the anointed messages of our Pastor, William Gillison. Mt. Olive Way Productions was formed out of this Ministry to assist our members and our community with many special events and programs. As a Ministry we can say that God has truly blessed and directed our efforts. It is very demanding work, not for the faint of heart. But knowing that with each broadcast we may be introducing someone to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for the first time, or reminding someone of what He once meant to them. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Theatre Workshop Ministry The purpose of the workshop is to first know that drama is a ministry and that it can be used to glorify God. Drama is also a way to educate and inform. Our actors are dedicated Christians who believe that we do not have to compromise Christian morals to tell a story. We recognize that acting is a talent given to us by God. Girls Scout Ministry We are blessed to have troops at every age level; Daisy age 5, Brownies ages 6-8, Juniors 9-11, Cadet/Senior ages 12-17. Our leaders are committed Christian women who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of our young ladies. The Girl Scout Ministry is an outreach ministry, therefore we extend our membership to the community at large. For further information, please contact the Church Office. Mt. Olive Baptist Church Scholarship MinistryTo God We Give All the Glory & Praise The scholarship ministry offers tutoring to students through 12th grade. We gather and distribute information to parents on how to save for their child’s future. Several times a year a variety of study and writing skills seminars are offered as well as resume and interview workshops. In the fall of each year, a college fair is hosted at Mt. Olive Baptist where colleges and Universities are invited to give their assistance and share with the students what their colleges offer, what’s expected and explain the various types of aid and programs that are available. Prison Ministry
Matt. 25:35-36 The Mt. Olive Baptist Church has been active in prison ministry for over 15 years. In the early years it was called the Mt. Olive Prison Ministry. In 1991 the Lord sent Rev. Herbert Winfield to become a member of Mt. Olive. Rev. Herbert Winfield was already very active in his own prison ministry working under the name of “Word of God Prison Ministry” which Mt. Olive adopted. As Director of the Word of God Prison Ministry, Rev. Winfield and his staff visit Collins 1, Collins 2 and Wendy (State) Facilities while providing cassettes and videos of sermons and services to the facilities that they serve. The Angel tree extension has become an annual function of the Prison Ministry. Working in conjunction with Weslyan Church of Hamburg, New York, each Christmas the Ministry works to see that the children of incarcerated inmates are the recipients of gifts. Parents and/or guardians are invited to the Church to be a part of a Christmas program where we share with them that God's love as well as offering them an opportunity to become a part of a Greater family. Ushers ' MinistryFor a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents wickedness. Psalm 84:10. The purpose of our ministry purpose is to serve God’s people. We are committed to greeting people with a warm smile. We extend our hand to say welcome to our home. Our goal is to be strengthened by the Word of God. Nurses’ Ministry Sister Julia Benton and Sister Ruth Allen organized the Nurses’ Ministry of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1967 under the leadership of Pastor James B. Benton. In 1981 Sister Ruth Allen reorganized the Nurses’ Ministry under the leadership and guidance of Pastor William Gillison. It was mandatory that all active members complete the Red Cross First Aid Course. This practice remains one of the primary requirements for all Nurses. Our function is to provide assistance and comfort to our Pastor and Ministerial Staff and to administer emergency treatment to our members for sudden illnesses or injury during the course of Worship Service. In 1996 the Lord blessed us with training equipment that enables us to hold our own Community First Aid & Safety Classes here at the Church. These classes are taught by two of our own nurses’ who have been certified by the American Red Cross to be Community First Aid & Safety Instructors. Mission Ministry We are dedicated to the cause of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; to win souls and feed those that are physically and spiritually in need. Members of the Missionary Ministry are committed to comforting the bereaved, visiting the sick and shut-in, and showing the compassion and love of Jesus Christ to all.
Our members volunteer at many of the local nursing homes and hospitals including the Cornerstone Manor, a shelter for women and children. We minister and give spiritual encouragement by praying with those that have heavy yolks of addictions. During the month of June, the Mission Ministry coordinates our church's evangelism outreach to our local community.
Sunday School The purpose of the Sunday school is to provide men, women and children with the necessary tools for spiritual growth, found only through the study of the Word of God. We prepare our students so that they will have the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and His Word. We strive to make every student a "Workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth." (2 Tim. 2:15) Our Sunday School Ministry currently averages approximately 350 disciples per week. We have been blessed with 16 classes, beginning at the age of 3. Sunday School Teachers’ meeting is held once a week to discuss and prepare the lesson for the upcoming Sunday. Our classes are open to anyone wishing to learn more about the Lord. A week of Vacation Bible School is usually held in August. Take Time to Care Ministry The Take Time to Care Ministry is an extension of our Sunday School Department.
