Worship Leader
Job Description
Mount Olive Ministries is seeking a part-time worship leader to lead our weekly Sunday morning worship gathering. The senior pastor and leadership at Mount Olive, including our current praise team members, are looking for a leader to help create a Spirit-filled worship experience that glorifies our sovereign and holy God. God has given Mount Olive a vision to be a community-minded, Christ-centered, multi-generational church. Our worship gatherings are an important and cohesive part of our identity.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the praise team and the pastor to create inspiring weekly worship experiences that coordinates with the weekly messages and overall sermon series. Weekly rehearsals with the praise team are expected, often these rehearsals and sound checks are on Sunday morning starting at 9am.
- Assist with refinement of praise team to potentially include choir(s), musicians, singers, bands, handbells, guests. Integrate new praise songs with traditional hymns for a variety of music styles.
- Work with choir director and pastor to create an advance-plan of two months of worship services. Meet once a month with the pastor to discuss the weekly worship and to help create:
- a written vision for the worship gatherings
- measurable goals to improve the worship experiences.
4. Bring a creative touch to worship service to inspire the congregation through music, visual,
and audio means. This includes:
- Prayers and readings before, after and/or between songs in the weekly worship set
- Inclusion of new members to the praise team
- Structural changes to the flow of the service
- Periodic visual changes in the sanctuary/chancel area
- Occasional worship services for the children
- Annual Worship in the Park and Bi-annual All-church Retreat
